Greenup County Deputy Arrested for Public Intoxication

A deputy has resigned after an incident in eastern Kentucky.

According to court documents, Randy Riggs, a deputy for the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department, was arrested by the Ashland Police Department this past weekend for first and second offense alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Court documents say that Riggs was spotted in the parking lot of The Eagles on Carter Avenue in Ashland and was found to be the influence. 

Riggs was very loud, shouting at bystanders, being unreasonably annoying other people in the area, being belligerent and smelled strongly of alcohol.

Riggs was arrested and taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.

According to the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department, Riggs has resigned.
