Ohio Man found with Heroin-Fentanyl Mix Sentenced

GALLIPOLIS (WOWK) - A Westerville, Ohio, man has been sentenced to four years in prison after he was found in a home with illegal narcotics.

Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason Holdren said 38-year-old Tyree Dawkins, along with a man named Jake Facemire, were found in a home on State Route 141 in Gallipolis, OH with narcotics containing a heroin-fentanyl mixture. Law enforcement executed a search warrant on the home back in February after numerous complaints there was a high volume of foot traffic to and from the house.

Prosecutor Holdren thanks law enforcement for taking a proactive approach. "One of the important things on this case is, unfortunately, heroin-fentanyl has been the cause of so many deaths," Holdren said. "Thanks to the efforts of local law enforcement, this dangerous drug is off the street - where it could have ended up in the hands of so many people who could have been killed by it."

Dawkins was sentenced by Judge Margaret Evans with the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.
