UPDATE (2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022): The Charleston Police Department (CPD) provided a couple more details on the two separate shootings in the city on Saturday night.

There are no major updates, but CPD’s Sgt. Tony Hazelett tells 13 News that a BB gun was used in the first shooting at Family Dollar on Washington Street west around 7:23 p.m.

Sgt. Hazelett also says the gunshot victim was a man in the second shooting at Renaissance Circle around 9 p.m.

There is no other information from CPD at this time.


CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Metro 911 says a shooting happened around 7:23 p.m. near Family Dollar on Washington Street West in Charleston.

Metro says one patient was transported for medical treatment, and one person is in custody with law enforcement.

A separate shooting happened shortly after around 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Renaissance Circle. The person who was shot drove to the hospital for treatment.

Charleston Police Department responded to the shootings. 13 News has reached out to them for more information on both shootings.
