State Troopers are asking for assistance from the community to track down a sex offender.  Michael L. Canterbury, 33, was previously convicted on sex charges.  As a result, he is required to update the State Police Sex Offender Registry.

According to investigators, Canterbury left his home on Monday, March 19, 2018 and has not been heard from since.  Troopers said there are some reports that he may be in the Beckley area.  He is now facing charges of probation violation and failure to update the sex offender registry.

Canterbury stands 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighs 240-pounds.  He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Canterbury’s location is asked to contact the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-256-6700 or CrimeStoppers of West Virginia at 304-255-STOP (7867).  There are rewards available for information which leads to an arrest.  Anonymous tips can also be left using the P3 Tips App on any smart phone or mobile device.
