Shots fired in Fayette County land 3 men in jail

Shots rang out near Oak Hill on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 alerting a nearby sheriff’s deputy.  It happened at the Shilo Mobile Home Court on Gatewood Road.

The deputy drove to the community where he spotted three men outside a trailer.  According to a release, he was able to smell gunpowder.  Java, a K-9 Unit used to detect explosives and gunpowder residue, led investigators to the mobile home.

Deputies were then able to get a search warrant.  Inside they found two guns and assorted ammunition.  The three men who lived in the trailer are convicted felons.  They had previously been convicted on narcotics charges as well as breaking and entering and manslaughter.

Charles Adkins, Timothy Dotson, and Phillip Gray were all arrested and charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.  The men are being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $25,000 bond each.
