Woman Arrested in Hospital After Attempting to Disarm Police Officer

ROANE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) - A woman is under arrest after attempting to disarm a police officer and obstructing an officer in a Roane County hospital.

According to the Roane County Sheriff's Office, police responded to Roane General Hospital to assist the Roane County Sheriff's Department with a call.

According to a criminal complaint, the complaint was an out of control woman causing a disturbance in the emergency department.

Police arrived and found a female, identified as Amanda Jo Wilson, 38, of Reedy, WV, in another patient's room cursing.

Police ordered Wilson out of the other patient's room, where she refused to comply.

The complaint says that she continued to not comply. She was told by police that she was being placed under arrest and was attempted to be restrained by police, when she pulled away.

Police grabbed her arm and were able to remove her from the patient's room. Wilson fought with police to prevent from being restrained.

She then grabbed a police officer's gun and attempted to remove it from the holster while being restrained.

Wilson was restrained and was arrested for battery on an officer, obstructing an officer, and attempting to disarm a law-enforcement officer.

She is lodged in the Central Regional Jail on $21,000 bond.
