Charleston Police Arrest Woman for Stealing Money from Adults with Special Needs

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - UPDATE(5/22/18 8:55 AM):

Tammy Jordan was arrested yesterday evening by the Charleston Police Department.

She is currently at South Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.


The Charleston Police Department is searching for Tammy Rena Jordan, 52, on warrants for stealing money from adults with special needs.

Police say on May 18th, 2018, Jordan asked the victim for money to buy a soda at the Charleston Town Center Mall. The victim is severely handicapped and confined to a wheelchair.

Police say the victim cannot access his wallet without assistance so he allowed Jordan to retrieve the money herself. Jordan then took a substantial amount of money from the victim’s wallet and fled toward the Transit Mall.

According to police, Jordan is homeless and frequents the Transit Mall. Jordan is suspected of committing another offense similar to this one against another disabled man in the mall on May 4th, 2018.

Jordan has two active state warrants for petit larceny.
