WV State Police capture man after escaping police custody

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) - UPDATE: 4/12/2019 9:00 P.M.

State Police tell 13 News that Timothy Ward was apprehended earlier this afternoon.

He is now being held at South Central Regional Jail.


A man is on the run after escaping police custody Wednesday evening.

According to WVSP, Timothy Ward, 35, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, driving revoked, and possession of a controlled substance around 8 P.M. in Winfield on April 12th, 2018. 

Ward was handcuffed and taken to the State Police Winfield detachment when he managed to escape on foot while being processed.

Troopers say Ward was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, gray work pants, black boots, and carrying a gray button-up mechanics shirt. 

His last known vehicle is the pictured dark jeep with license plate 5-2-E-5-6-5. Troopers say that the jeep is stolen.
