1 Dead, Several Injured After Car Crashes into Bingo Hall in Raleigh County

UPDATE (5/11 9:00 A.M.): 

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, a person has passed away after a car crashed into a side of a building in Raleigh County.

Raleigh County Sheriff Scott Van Meter tells 59News the person was killed when a car crashed into the Sophia City Bingo Hall Thursday night.

A witness who saw the incident told 59News a car was pulling out of the Sophia City Bingo Hall when it hit another car, spun around, and crashed into the garage door of the building.

Sheriff Van Meter tells 59News his office will release more details on the crash and the identity of the victim this afternoon.


UPDATE (5/10 10:40 P.M.):  According to the captain of the Sophia Volunteer Fire Department, twelve people are injured.

There is still no word on the extent of the injuries.

A car reportedly crashed into a side of a building in Raleigh County and injured several people.

According to Raleigh County Dispatchers, the call came in around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 10.

A vehicle reportedly ran through a wall at the Sophia City Bingo Hall in Sophia.

Dispatchers reported there are several injuries.

Sophia Volunteer Fire Department, Coal City Fire Department, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police, Best Ambulance, and Jan Care Ambulance responded to the scene.
