Entire Town of New Boston Shut Down Due to Flooding

NEW BOSTON, OH (WOWK) - New Boston Police, along with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office told 13 News that the entire town of New Boston is shut down due to flooding.

They say the shut down because of heavy rainfall, as well as the face that the town's pumps are not working correctly.

New Boston Police say the water is continuing to rise, and that the town is expected to be closed for several hours.

There is high water throughout the county due to the rainfall.

An elderly couple was rescued after water surrounded their home in the small community of Stockdale, OH in northern Scioto County.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the flooding, but officers with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office consider the flooding 'widespread'.  

They say many back roads are closed due to high water, as well as portions of State Route 125 and State Route 139.
