Road Reopens, Power Outages Restored Following Crash in Clendenin

CLENDENIN, WV (WOWK) – One person was transported to the hospital following a crash near Clendenin.

According to dispatchers, the crash was reported at just after 1 a.m. on the 1400 block of Spencer Road near Thorofare Road.

Dispatchers say a vehicle struck a pole and then went over a hillside.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The road remained shut down while AEP works on the pole. The road reopened to one lane around 6:15 a.m. and reopened fully to traffic around 8 a.m.

Approximately 2,880 AEP customers in northern Kanawha and south central Roane counties had power impacted as a result.

Power was restored fully around 10 a.m.

The Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department, AEP, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, and Kanawha County EMS responded to the scene.
