Rumble Strips Installed Around I-64 Work Zone

PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) - People driving through the work zone on I-64 between Hurricane and Milton will notice some changes this week.

After a series of fatal accidents, highway crews and the West Virginia State Police have ramped up efforts to keep drivers safe.

The latest move was to add temporary rumble strips around the work zone to remind drivers to slow down. Those rumble strips are also marked with signs to let drivers know to expect to slow down.

Crews have also reduced the speed limit several miles outside of the actual work zone.

The West Virginia State Police have assigned more troopers to patrol the area as well.
