WV sees 20 additional COVID-19 related deaths

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports 20 additional COVID-19 related deaths.

As of September 9, 2021, the Mountain State has seen 203,403 total cases and 3,189 total deaths. .

DHHR confirms the deaths of a 59-year old male from Harrison County, a 67-year old female from Preston County, a 70-year old male from Greenbrier County, a 71-year old female from Cabell County, a 52-year old female from Marshall County, a 58-year old female from Upshur County, a 65-year old male from Wood County, a 69-year old male from Kanawha County, a 72-year old male from Tucker County, an 87-year old female from Ohio County, a 73-year old male from Preston County, a 63-year old male from Marion County, a 65-year old male from Harrison County, a 93-year old female from Mercer County, a 59-year old female from Kanawha County, a 64-year old female from Marion County, a 65-year old female from Mercer County, a 34-year old male from Randolph County, a 66-year old male from Harrison County, and an 86-year old female from Cabell County.

Looking at the County Alert map, Tucker and Pleasant Counties are in yellow, Hancock, Ohio, Lewis Barbour, Roane, Fayette, McDowell, and Pendleton Counties are in orange, and Pocahontas County is in gold. All of the other counties are in red.

Delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
