Police make one of the biggest meth busts in Ashland history

ASHLAND, Ky. (WOWK) – According to a police report, just after midnight on Monday, Ashland Police arrested Franklin Kenneth Certain Jr. and Rikki Dawn Wurts, both of Ashland, on drug related charges. During the arrest officers seized 2.68 pounds of crystal meth (having a street value of $243,000,00), a small amount of marijuana, a naloxone tablet, $4,300.00 cash, scales and baggies. 

Police had originally responded to an animal complaint on Gallaher Drive. They were informed from a resident that one animal attacked another, and that person wanted to see an officer. 

Upon arrival, officers met with the other owner who was not the reporting party. That owner was Franklin Kenneth Certain, Jr. Officers discovered he had an outstanding traffic warrant. When informed he was under arrest, he resisted and assaulted the officer. After a brief scuffle, Certain was taken into custody. Also in the house officers noticed narcotics just inside the door. A search warrant was obtained. 

Inside the house was was a female, Rikki Dawn Wurts. 

Certain Jr. and Wurts face several drug related charges, including trafficking in control substances. 

Also seized at the scene was a Cadillac Escalade.

More charges are pending as this investigation continues. 

Both were lodged in the Boyd County Dentention Center.
