Ashland sinkhole caused by busted sewer line, city says

UPDATE (9:20 a.m. on Friday, August 20): City officials say that the sinkhole was due to a busted combined sewer and runoff line. The pipe has been repaired, and the city is looking around for any other issues that may have contributed to the sinkhole before they fill the hole back up.

People are still being asked to avoid the area.


ASHLAND, KY (WOWK)—The City of Ashland is reporting a sinkhole at the intersection of Greenup Avenue and 17th Street, and citizens are being told to avoid the area.

In a Facebook post, the City of Ashland said that drivers should use Winchester Avenue.

Crews are said to be on site.
