Trio Charged With Kidnapping And Transporting Children To Mexico

According to Vanceburg KY Police Chief Joe Billman, Kristy Carrington, 30, Jay D. Thompson, 29, and Victor Carrington, 39, all from Vanceburg, are being charged with the kidnapping of two children from the Vanceburg area and transporting them to Mexico.

The kidnapping occurred on February 3, 2019. The Vanceburg Police Department teamed up with Texas Border Patrol to track their cell phones and were able to track the three entering into Mexico in Laredo, TX.

Thompson and Kristy Carrington were caught at the border entering back into the United States. Victor Carrington turned himself in a few days later. 

Authorities say the children were with him.

Victor Carrington is also facing sexual abuse charges from two years ago. FBI brought the trio back to Kentucky.

They were booked into the Lewis County Detention Center in Vanceburg on March 4. The children were safely returned and are currently in foster care.
