Charleston Police Arrest Woman Accused of Biting Tip of Someone's Finger Off

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - A Charleston woman accused of biting off the tip of another woman's finger during an argument has been arrested.

The Charleston Police Department says Latasha Barrett, 31, of Charleston, has been arrested and charged with one count of malicious wounding stemming from an incident that occurred at around 12 AM on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018, on the 2000 block of Hutchinson Street.

She is accused of biting off the tip of a woman's left index finger following a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. 

Police say the victim sustained a serious injury to her finger and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

The condition of the victim's injury is unknown at this time. 

Barrett and the victim are acquaintances.
