Group meets to map Charleston's West Side and identify problem spots

A team of people who want to improve their community met Tuesday to talk about the good and the not so good things happening in their neighborhoods.

Adults and teens from businesses, volunteer groups and local agencies sat down with maps to mark the great things about Charleston's West Side and the areas that need to see change. The color yellow indicated safe areas. The color orange was used to highlight areas where there may be drug activity and crime. That information will be shared with other groups working in that neighborhood to help everyone focus their energy in the right places.

The meeting was hosted by the Partnership of African American Churches (PAAC)  West Side Ward 4 Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. More meetings are in the works.
