ORIGINAL (7/10/18):

The Martin County Sheriff's Office is searching for an escaped inmate after they say he assaulted, overpowered, and carjacked a deputy jailer. He is considered dangerous.

Mark Allen Crouch has escaped from a Martin County Jail Transport person. He was last seen in a Martin Co. Jailer vehicle, a gray Ford Crown Victoria.

He has a tattoo on his right neck with Riley and Elisha on his left forearm. His chest area is tattooed heavily with Ohio State at the top.

He was last seen handcuffed in the Route 581 area.

The Johnson County Sherif's Office say Crouch was being transported by Martin County jailer from Martin County to The Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County.

The incident occurred on KY Route 321 near Premier Motor in Johnson County just on the outskirts of the Paintsville City Limits.

Crouch, who was cuffed in the front and sitting in the front passenger seat, became combative with the jailer, ultimately forcing the jailer out of the vehicle and onto the roadway.

Crouch then took control of the vehicle and turned around and proceeded Northbound towards U.S. 23.

He is approximately 6'2", weighs around 205 pounds, and was last seen wearing shorts, a hat, and glasses. He also goes by Mark Mills as an alias.
