UPDATE: Police locate mother, young child reported missing from Putnam County

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - UPDATE: Summer and Skylie Toney were located together in Huntington overnight by police.

Law enforcement and family members say officers let them both go because there was no reason to detain the mother.

A Kanawha County family is desperately searching for two of their loved ones- one of whom is a young child.

Summer Toney, 29, and her daughter, Skylie Toney, 8, were last seen together at the American Inn in Hurricane, West Virginia on June 23, according to family.

Summer is described as weighing 100-105 lbs and is 5'5" tall.  She has blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Skylie weighs 80-90 lbs and is 4' tall.  She also has blonde hair.  Skylie has blue eyes.

Family members said anonymous witnesses told them they spotted Summer on Charleston's West Side on Thursday, July 5.  Those witnesses said Summer looked like she had been beaten.  The witnesses said Skylie was not with her mother at that time.

Summer Toney is a known drug user, family said.  As a result, her actions are unpredictable at times.  The main concern at this point, they said, is the safety and wellbeing of Skylie.

If you have any information in the case, you are asked to contact troopers with the Winfield detachment of the West Virginia State Police in Putnam County at 304-746-2100.
