7 Arrested After Drug Raid in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) - Huntington Police executed two search warrants today after several complaints of drug activity in the area.

Huntington Police Department Detectives and SWAT raided an apartment building on the 700 block of 8th Avenue at around 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018.

Upon entering the building, police say they found several people scattered throughout the hallways passed out along with needles everywhere.

Huntington Police say the building has been the scene of several overdose reports and a possible overdose death.

During the raid, 21 people were detained with five being arrested on state charges and two on city charges. The individuals with city charges were arraigned by the city judge and five were cited and released for various city charges. Those arrested are:

  • Thelma Cheaib
    • Conspiracy to deliver heroin, a felony
    • Maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, a misdemeanor
  • Aaron Porter
    • Fugitive from justice warrant, a felony
  • Jerome T Boyd aka “Fats”
    • Conspiracy to deliver heroin, a felony
    • Delivery of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Brandon Keyes aka “B”
    • Prohibited person in possession of a firearm, a felony
    • Maintaining a dwelling for drug sale, a misdemeanor
  • Jeffrey Hodgens
    • Maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, a misdemeanor

Detectives recovered several guns, distribution amounts of crack, meth, and heroin, cash, scales, various items used for packaging and selling drugs and a vehicle during the searches.

Code enforcement was called to the scene along with several city inspectors including the fire marshal, electrical inspector and city building inspector. Code enforcement was notified due to the condition of the entire building. The health dept was also notified for unsanitary conditions and needle disposal.
