Pink and Pamper Spa Day for Breast Cancer Survivors

local businesses put together a free spa day for women who beat cancer

CHARLESTON WV, (WOWK) - For Karen Williams and five other breast cancer survivors ... today was a day of comfort ... and spa bliss and other companies gathered to help these ladies celebrate their victory over a deadly disease, "i had cancer but cancer didn't have me," said Williams.

And local business owners contributed to today's glory, like Kathy Rubio the owner of Spa Bliss  "it's just a wonderful feeling to feel like you're helping someone whose been through as much as they have," Rubio. And  Chris Gosses, from Chris Gosses photography "today's kind of a day of pampering. they get to be a little silly during the photo shoot and show that courage that shines through that they've been faced with with whatever their journey is or has been so im excited to be a part of it," Gosses.

But for Misty Bennett, this day meant a lot to her being a two time breast cancer survivor  "spa bliss has donated their services and gave us a little spa day. they did our make-up and our hair if we had any and our nails and our toe nails and just made us feel pretty just for us being survivors."

The West Virginia breast health initiative used today's pink and pampered spa day to promote and raise awareness for the up and coming annual 5k walk while honoring those who have beat breast cancer.

"it's amazing what people do for us but what Kathy's done the owner of spa bliss, she's gone above and beyond with us so it's made me feel extra special even though i don't think i deserve to feel special," Bennett added.
