Body Identified in Ashland, Police Investigating Homicide

UPDATE (1/19 8:30 PM):

The Boyd County coroner has released the name of the homicide victim found early Saturday morning in Ashland.

Coroner Mark Hammond says the victim is 29-year-old Ericka Spradlin of Ashland.

Her body was found in a front yard on Marcia Street after a driver called 9-11. 

Ashland Police Chief Todd Kelley told 13 News that the woman had been assaulted.

Ashland police are investigating. 

ORIGINAL (1/19 3PM):

A body has been discovered in Boyd County Saturday morning.

The body was discovered around 8:50 a.m. on Marcia Street in Ashland, according to the Ashland Police Department.

Police say a motorist driving by discovered the body laying in the yard of a residence on Marcia Street.

The body has not been identified but say that it is a female. 

The Ashland Police Department is investigating the incident as a homicide as a result of evidence received at the scene.
