Camden Park Coaster Receives Historic Honor

Local News

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – American Coaster Enthusiasts, the world’s largest roller coaster enthusiasts club, bestowed a prestigious honor upon a Camden Park classic Sunday afternoon.

American Coaster Enthusiasts, also known as ACE, travel the country and the world for the love of roller coasters. As part of their 2019 Preservation Conference, the nonprofit declared Camden Park’s Big Dipper roller coaster as an “ACE Coaster Classic” which recognizes roller coasters that have significant history as a national historic coaster.

Camden Park dates back to 1903 and is home to two ACE Coaster Classics, Big Dipper and Lil’ Dipper. Both are historic wooden roller coasters built more over 50 years ago by the National Amusement Device Company.
