Charleston Police Search for Suspect in Overnight Robbery

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Charleston Police are searching for a suspect after responding to a robbery call overnight on Sunday, May 12th. 

Officers arrived on the scene of the Gino’s on Lee Street West just after midnight. The manager of the Gino’s reported to police that while he was walking through the parking lot outside of the restaurant taking the night deposit to BB&T bank, he was hit on the head and knocked down by an unknown suspect. The victim also added that the suspect had his hand in his pocket and acted like he had a gun. 

The manager told police the suspect stole the deposit bag with an undisclosed amount of money from him and took off toward the alleyway behind the Charleston Light Opera Guild with another unknown man.

The suspect is described as a black male with a tall and thin build wearing a dark purple hooded sweatshirt and the second man who ran from the scene with the suspect is described as a male of unknown race who was also tall and thin. 

The Charleston Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting the investigation.  Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 304-348-8111 or post to the Department Facebook page.
