CPD: Shooting Unfounded at Go Mart on Charleston’s West Side

UPDATE (2/9/2019 7 PM):

Police say upon investigation, the victim was not shot. 

Charleston Police Department says the subject was “extremely intoxicated” and had a knot on his head. The circumstances of his injury are unknown, but there is no indiciation of the victim being shot. 

The scene has been cleared and the Go Mart is back open. 

No futher information is available at this time. 


ORIGINAL (2/9/2019 6 PM):

One person has been injured after a shooting at a gas station in Kanawha County.

The shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. at the Go-Mart on Washington Street West in Charleston.

Dispatchers say the victim is a male and is alive, though his injuries are unknown at this time.

The gas station is closed while Charleston Police, Fire, and EMS check out the scene.

We have a crew on the scene and will provide more information as soon as we receive new details.
