WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Two men were arrested for a violent armed robbery after an investigation conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies say that Zachary Jarrells and Dylan Jarrells, both of Dunlow, picked the victim up in Fort Gay, WV and were traveling south on US RT 52 when they bragged to the victim that they stole the vehicle they were driving.
According to deputies, the victim told them he wanted out of the vehicle, Zachary stopped the vehicle and both Dylan and Zachary stabbed the victim multiple times while he was in the back seat of the vehicle.
Deputies say Zachary and Dylan Jarrells took the victims wallet, phone, hoodie, and jewelry.
The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and the suspects attempted to run the victim over when fleeing the scene. Wayne County Sheriff Thompson stated the victim was able to go to a home nearby to call for help. The victim was stabbed five times during the robbery.
Sheriff Thompson stated the Wayne County Sheriffs Department, US Marshals, Drug Enforcement Unit, Parole, State Police, and Fort Gay PD began a manhunt for both suspects. Sheriff Thompson stated they arrested Zachary in the Fort Gay area and Zachary was in possession of numerous vehicle parts that were stripped from the SUV they were in. The SUV was located a short time later by Deputies.
A short time later Wayne County 911 told officers they received a call that Dylan Jarrells had overdosed and they were rushing him to Cabell Huntington Hospital. After arriving at the Hospital, Dylan was placed under arrest by the West Virginia State Police.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Dylan Jarrells was currently on Parole for Robbery and under indictment for multiple charges in Kentucky.
