DNR Police find person suspected of poaching

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WVNS) – West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Police made an arrest after reports of someone allegedly poaching animals in Nicholas and Webster Counties.

According to a release, DNR officers responded to the suspect’s house and found parts of freshly killed deer in the yard. After further investigation, officers were able to find and identify a 9-point rack and a 10-point rack that was taken with the aid or use of a spotlight, as well as a 4-point rack that had not been checked-in. 

Officers also found an illegally harvested bear, along with a male turkey believed to have been killed prior to the opening of the 2018 Spring Gobbler season. 

The suspect was charged with numerous hunting related violations. 

DNR officers expressed their appreciation for all the information and tips given by the public.
