Dunbar Fire Department Battles Flames and Extreme Heat

Local News

DUNBAR, WV (WOWK) – The Dunbar Fire Department battled flames and humidity at an abandoned home on the 120th block of Seventh Street early Thursday Morning.

The call came in just after 1a.m. where humidity levels were anywhere from 80-95%.

“Whenever you add the humidity to it, it really makes it difficult. It takes a toll on us. We have to make sure we stay hydrated and take our time because it’s no good if we can’t effectively to what we are supposed to do if we are laying in the yard from over heat exhaustion,” says Dunbar Assistant Fire Chief, Billy James.

This structure fire was one of three that happened in Kanawha County overnight. No injuries where reported from any of the three.
