Dunbar Police Identify Pedestrian Killed on I-64

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The Dunbar Police Department has identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck on I-64 last night.

Dunbar Police say they were dispatched to I-64 East for a report of a pedestrian struck on the Thursday, November 1st, 2018, at around 9:12 PM. 

Police say the pedestrian, Jesse Holt Jr. 36, of  South Charleston, WV, was found deceased.

Police say Holt was attempting to cross I-64 on foot for unknown reasons. The driver of the vehicle did not see Holt crossing the interstate and struck him.

According to police, Holt was wearing dark-colored clothing and had no source of light or reflective material on his person which could be a contributing factor.

Police say the driver of the vehicle submitted to officer’s request for field sobriety testing. The driver was found not to be impaired and fully cooperated with officers throughout the investigation.

No charges will be sought against the driver.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the Kanawha County Ambulance, and the Dunbar Fire Department also responded.
