East End drive-by shooting leaves Charleston man with leg injury

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Early this morning, May 13, 2019, a gunshot victim, Emanuel A. McCarty, 32, walked into CAMC General Hospital with two gunshot wounds to his legs.

A Charleston Police Officer was notified of the situation by hospital staff. McCarty reported to the officer that he was shot while walking in the area of Lewis Street and Ruffner Avenue by an unknown suspect in a white vehicle, possibly a Dodge Neon.

No crime scene was located where McCarty claimed he was shot and there were no reports of shots fired.

Charleston Police are investigating and looking into the possibility that this incident may be in relation to another incident that took place the previous evening at the Orchard Manor housing complex.

Officers responded to a report of someone shooting at a female. While on scene officers received information that an unknown man was shooting at another man. No suspects were identified or crime scene was located.
