East Side shooting leaves two people injured, suspect at large

Around 3:30 this morning Charleston Police were notified of a reported shooting at the 1500th block of Jackson St, Charleston from Kanawha County dispatch.

When officers arrived on scene two victims were located who had sustained gunshot wounds.

The unknown suspect is believed to have shot both victims. A witness described a maroon-colored Mazda sedan leaving the area after the shots were fired.

The adult female victim reported she was outside near The Empty Glass bar when she was shot multiple times in the leg and hand area. The female then retrieved the gun from her purse and returned fire. The adult male victim was shot two times in the back and leg area.

Both victims are receiving medical treatment at this time for their injuries.

Evidence was obtained from the scene and investigators are working to identify the suspect.
