Elderly woman, dogs die in Roane County house fire

According to fire investigators, an elderly woman and her two dogs died in an overnight fire in Newton, West Virginia.

The victim is believed to be 80 years old, investigators said.

Crews arrived to fight the fire in the morning hours of March 30, 2019.  

The home is in a remote area Newton, along Hollywood Road, a fire marshal said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and the name of the victim has not yet been released.
