Elk River Communities Come Together for Mudstock 2018

Local News

Hundreds of people gathered in the Elkview Crossing Mall’s K-Mart parking lot for the second annual Mudstock Benefit Concert.

The free concert featured local musicians and country star Andy Griggs.

“The mud has dried up, but the funds have too. So we’re out here today trying to raise, money and keep the funds flowing to get those people the help that they need,” said organizer Connie Nelson.

Two years since devastating flood waters damaged many Elk River communities, the floods impact can still be felt. The annual event benefits on-going flood recovery work completed by organizations like the praying pelican missions.

“Everybody comes out and gets together and we celebrate. Because whether or not the flood wiped everything out, it brought people together,” said Clendenin Mayor Shana Clendenin.

Nelson added, “This community is resilient, we believe in giving people a hand up when they need it and these people of the Elkview Community are some of the best on earth.”
