Family of Missing Kanawha County Woman Refuses to Give Up Hope

Local News

The family of Melanie Metheny, a Kanawha County woman who went missing in 2006, held an event to honor Melanie and the nearly 200 missing persons across the state.

“These people are out there somewhere,” Melanie’s stepfather Bill Daniel told 13 News. “Somebody knows something. So we hold this event and hope people will see the flyers, see the posters of everyone who is missing and they recognize something.”

He added, “Hopefully it brings them home to their families that are missing them.”

Nationwide, roughly 2,300 people are reported missing each day.

Governor Jim Justice declared the month of July as Missing Persons Awareness Month. West Virginia has 163 active missing persons cases.
