Firefighters on scene after explosion reported at Ashland gas station

ASHLAND, Ky. (WOWK) – Firefighters are working to keep fuel storage tanks from reigniting after an explosion was reported at an Ashland, Kentucky gas station.

The explosion was reported on the morning of Monday, April 15th, 2019, at Sunoco Food Mart on Winchester Avenue.

Winchester Avenue is currently blocked from 22nd to 23rd Street.

Debris and large concrete chunks are visible all over the area of the parking lot where the explosion was reported.

The Deputy Fire Chief tells WOWK, 13 News Reporter Tiffney Lopez that the cause of the explosion is unknown and the Fire Marshal will investigate.

No injuries have been reported.
