Frequent Flooding in Malden Creating Problems for Area Neighbors

Local News

Neighbors who live on George’s Creek Drive in Malden are fed up with frequent flooding.

Neighbors say the cause is a collapsed culvert located in a home in the 600 block of the road. According to online records, the home last sold back in November of 2017, but neighbors told 13 News that the home has sat empty for close to 2 years.

“Every time it rains even if it’s just a little, it comes up out of the ground and across the road, and into my front yard,” said neighbor John Steele.

Steele is a former firefighter. A few years ago, he was paralyzed in an accident. He nows relies on a wheelchair for mobility.

“On Friday, I came home and pulled into the driveway and had five inches of water in my driveway,” Steele told 13 News. “I was trapped in my car for more than 3 hours.”

We reached out to the company that is managing the home, but have yet to hear back.

This is a developing story. We will continue to update you as more information becomes avaialble.
