Furniture Truck Catches Fire in Milton

MILTON, WV (WOWK) – A truck carrying furniture burst into flames this morning at the Sheetz in Milton, West Virginia.

The driver says he was traveling from South Point, Ohio to Montgomery, WV when he pulled over at Milton due to an odd smell.

He says after he stopped smoke began billowing from under the hood, then flames until the entire cabin, and then whole truck caught fire.

The Milton Police Department says the furniture delivery truck ignited in flames in the parking lot.

Police say the driver and store personnel attempted to extinguish the truck with fire extinguishers but it was too involved.

The Milton Volunteer Fire Department arrived and put out the fire.

According to police, the truck and its cargo were a total loss, and another truck parked nearby was also damaged by the heat. 

No one was injured
