Governor Jim Justice announced on Friday that work will begin with the next 60 days on the Jefferson Road Improvement Project.
The $46.8 Million project will add an overpass bridge where Jefferson Road meets the Kanawha Turnpike, as well as create a roundabout underneath the overpass. The project also calls for two miles of Jefferson road to be expanded from a four-lane road to a five-lane road.
“This is truly a giant step toward getting this project on the move once and for all,” Gov. Justice said. “I’m so happy to help push this much-needed project across the finish line because it is going to make our people safer and boost our economy in this area all at the same time.”
The estimated completion date of the project is December 2022
