On Tuesday, Governor Jim Justice announced a 33.4 million dollar surplus for the month of August. This follows a 32.4 million dollar surplus in July, so for the second time the Governor broke out the leis.
The Governor credited the revenue growth to the severance tax, consumer sales tax and personal income tax. Justice did say the state needs to work on diversifying itself if the growth is to continue.
New House Speaker Roger Hanshaw was in attendance and spoke of the importance of bringing broadband across the state.
