Heat Wave Leaves Locals Trying to Stay Cool

Heat indices may climb close to 100 degrees or more, leaving lots of locals trying to stay cool at Charleston’s Magic Island Park. With a heat wave in store for the weekend, , Kanawha County Emergency Management is reminding everyone to be extra cautious in the extreme heat. 

“Please, keep a close on your children this weekend, especially with the way the weather is supposed to be,” said Mike Oakley. “They don’t compensate as well in the heat.” 

Oakley stressed the importance of staying hydrated in the extreme heat. According to Oakley, if you must be outside, limit your activity to morning and evening hours and don’t forget the sunscreen!
