Huntington police hire new officers

A big day for the City of Huntington Police Department as they welcome three new officers.

Thursday morning, Nicholas Lane, Michael Lipscomb, and Hun Tak were welcomed to the department by Chief Hank Dial and Mayor Steve Williams during a hiring and swearing-in ceremony.

Beginning next Monday, these new officers will start a 16 week training course at the West Virginia State Police Academy, followed by a specific training for 2 weeks, and field training for at least 12 weeks.

The new hires bring the Huntington Police Department staff up to 92 sworn police officers.

“It’s a great honor for us to be able to represent the Huntington Police Department, and as a whole, it’s one of the most professional departments I’ve seen,” said an excited Officer Tak. “Seeing that this department is highly praised among all law enforcement departments, it really wanted me to take part in the Huntington Police Department.”

Huntington Police Department continues to recruit new officers as they have a budget for a total of 108 police officers.
