HUNTINGTON, WV (AP) – A movie theater in Huntington, West Virginia, is set to start hosting monthly movie screenings to accommodate those with sensory needs.

The Huntington Herald-Dispatch reports the showings at Marquee Cinemas will have open captions, softened movie volume and allow guests to make noise and move around. Lights will also be turned up and guests will be allowed to bring outside snacks to accommodate for any special dietary needs.

The theater says it decided to host the new monthly offering after it had a successful pilot screening in December. An assistant manager at Marquee Cinemas, Andrea Merritt, says the screenings will provide entertainment “for a whole community that doesn’t normally get to come to the movies.”

So far, screenings are scheduled through the summer on the second Saturday of each month.
