Inmate Caught After Escaping West Virginia Correctional Center

UPDATE: William Lee Baker was apprehended by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department without incident in Beckley this evening.

BECKLEY, WV (WOWK) – Officers are searching for an escaped inmate in the Mountain State. 

At around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, William Lee Baker escaped from the Beckley Correctional Center. He was originally charged with felony fraud with access device, breaking and entering, grand larceny, burglary by breaking and entering, operating or attempting to operate clandestine drug laboratories, and daytime burglary without breaking.

He is sentenced to serve one to ten years in prison and he originally committed his crimes in Harrison, Lewis, and Marion counties.

Baker, 41, has brown hair, hazel eyes. He is five feet seven inches tall, weighs 138 pounds and was last seen wearing khaki pants, grey sweat shirt and orange taboggan.
