Job fair underway in downtown Huntington

Local News

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — A job fair is being held through 2 p.m. Wednesday at the former Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

The event was organized by the South Western West Virginia Region 2 Worforce.

82 employers came out to look for potential employees.

Employers we spoke with say they’re looking for customer service associates, nurses (CNA, LPN, RN), youth support specialists, target case managers, outpatient therapists, direct care workers, among other positions.

Among those present at the job fair were Huntington Police, who are looking to fill 17 police officer positions, WVSP, who are looking to fill trooper and civilian staff positions, and the FBI.

“If you want a job, it’s out there and it’s available,” said Jake Hunt, executive director of Region 2 Workforce. “And if we can in any way assist you, please feel free to give us a call.”

If you were unable to make it to the job fair, Hunt says you can head on over to the Workforce West Virginia website or the Region 2 Workforce website to apply, and get help applying, to jobs.
