KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Kanawha County Schools have announced makeup days due to the work stoppage from the 2019 West Virginia teachers’ strike.
KCS say they received guidance from the West Virginia Department of Education that they will not be able to use accrued time to make up days due to the work stoppage.
For traditional calendar schools, May 30th and May 31st will be used to make up the days for the two-day work stoppage. The last day for students will be May 31st.
For year-round schools, April 1st and April 2nd, 2019 will be the two required makeup days for Piedmont and MCSWSE. This means both schools will be in session on April 1st and April 2nd, 2019 for all students and staff. This will not change the last day of June 4th.
KCS says snow/cold days will not have to be made up thanks to banked instructional time.
