LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WOWK) — The sixth Annual Lawrence County Senior Citizen Day was held at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in Proctorville.
Senior citizens from around the county came out to enjoy a day of fun at the fairgrounds; all was free of charge.
Seniors were able to mingle with over 100 vendors at Tuesday’s celebration.
Aside from the free food, live music, and games, seniors were also able to get a free health screening from King’s Daughters Medical Center.
The biggest hit with seniors, however, had to be dancing for some cake!
“I love to dance. [My husband and I] danced all the time and we loved it,” said an enthusiastic Janet Shafer. “He’s not with me here [anymore], I lost him 2 and a half years ago; but I have a good time here with the senior citizens.”
Senior Day is put on by the Senior Committee of Lawrence County.
Senior Day began six years ago and had around 300 attendees.
Today, event organizers say over 2,000 seniors came out to Senior Day.
