Barry Massey, 52, of Seth, WV was arrested in January after police say he led them on a high-speed chase through Kanawha County in a stolen ambulance.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Massey has pleaded guilty in the case.
Court documents state that Massey had just been released from CAMC General. Police say he got in an ambulance in the parking lot of Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, which is just down the street, and drove off.
He was taken into custody a short time later.
Massey is scheduled to be sentenced in the case on August 1st, 2018.

Massey is being housed at the South Central Regional Jail with no bond.

A Kanawha County ambulance stolen has now been retrieved.
Dispatchers say that the stolen ambulance was retrieved at the intersection of Mill Creek Road and Lazy Acres Lane in eastern Kanawha County.
One suspect is in custody. The suspect is identified as Barry Dewayne Massey, 51, of Seth, WV.
Massey is currently in the hospital with non-serious injuries.
The ambulance was first reported stolen at the Kanawha County Operations Center on Brooks Street in Charleston at around 7 a.m. this morning.
According to scanner traffic, the ambulance headed north on Greenbrier Street before turning off on Rutledge Road.
Once on Rutledge Road, the driver turned onto Martin Hollow Road before turning east onto Mill Creek Road in eastern Kanawha County.
No injuries are reported and no crew were in the ambulance at the time the vehicle was stolen.
The Charleston Police Department and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crime.
