KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The South Charleston Police Department say Samuel Dylen Harvey is in custody after a pursuit near Charleston, West Virginia this morning.

According to Captain Rader with SCPD, the pursuit started in Spring Hill. An off duty officer recognized a stolen car from a BOLO and notified the department. When patrolmen went to make the traffic stop, they say Harvey took off. The car pursuit ended when police say Harvey blew a tire, hitting two other cars on the Oakwood Road entrance ramp.

Deputies say he jumped out and ran into the woods and jumped off a 20-foot cliff to the bottom of U.S. 119. Patrolmen Beane and Dawson followed. They also jumped the cliff and made the arrest off the side of 119.

They received minimal injuries.

Police say Harvey faces multiple charges.

This is a developing story and we will continue to update it as more information becomes available.
