Man sentenced for beating young boy, leaving him in intensive care

A man faces up to 15 years in prison for beating a three-year-old boy.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller, on August 9, Tommy Vance Jr.  was sentenced on child abuse resulting in bodily injury and unlawful wounding after officials said he beat a three-year-old boy. Vance Jr. was arrested in August 2014 and the child was put in intensive care to recover from his injuries. According to Keller, the boy still has lingering issues as a result of the beating.

Vance Jr. faces up to 15 years in prison. Keller also tells 59 News Vance Jr. is already serving a sentence for a previous conviction, and his new sentence will not start until after he is done serving time for the previous sentence. 

Once he is done serving time he will be on 50 years intensive parol supervision for child abusers. He wil also have to register in the Child Abuse Registry.
